Cottage Layout
Entrance:
The white painted, stable front door opens from Church Street the top half can be open with the bottom closed, essential for chatting to the neighbours and airy in Summer.
The cottage is tall and the ground floor is one large kitchen dining area and living room combined. It has a practical tiled floor and rug. At the rear one wall is fitted with a modern kitchen (oven, electric hob with extractor hood, microwave, under counter fridge with ice box, washing machine). The rest of the room has dining table and chairs for four, an original pine fireplace (working order), fine old pine dresser and two easy chairs.
The large sash window looks across the street to the chapel and down the passageway beside it, which leads to the 'Platt' (a raised platform area above the beach).
At the rear of the ground floor, a small hall leads to the stairs. Off the stairs at the first floor level, there is a WC, with hand basin and tiny window overlooking the rooftops behind the cottage.
The first floor has a comfortable sittingroom with two sash windows at the front overlooking the chapel and the harbour beyond. There is a pine fireplace (not in use) with electric 'log burner' style heater. Comfortable 3 seater leather sofa and velvet armchair with matching footstool. In a separate corner beside the window, there is a leather topped desk - a nice place to write letters or a novel about the sea.
More stairs up to the third floor with bannister rails, lead round the corner and have a small window half way, which looks onto roofs, sea and nextdoor's chimney, upon which there always seems to be a seagull sitting.
The bathroom has bath with electric shower over and also shower spray attached to bath taps; wash basin and heated towel rail.
Airing cupboard with immersion heater and linen storage is on the landing by the bathroom.
The main bedroom, with double bed, is at the front of the house and has a sash window with a nice view of the sea and harbour, past the chapel.
The smaller, second bedroom, nextdoor, has metal framed 3 foot wide bunk beds and again window with view of the sea.
